Membership

A Regular Membership in NES requires the person be at least 19 years of age and a written application form with $40.00 (single) and $50.00 (family) per year. The applicant must be sponsored by a current member for 1 year before eligibility to vote. Associate and Life Memberships are granted by motion and vote at a General Meeting.

The main tributaries of the Nicomekl River include Chantrell, Elgin, Makerth, Erickson, Anderson, Murray, Logan, and Fraser Creek. The Nicomekl River and it's tributaries support runs of Coho, Chum, Chinook, Pink Salmon, Cutthroat, Steelhead and Rainbow Trout, as well as redsided shiners, three spine sticklebacks, western brook lamprey,brown Bullhead, Carp and Sculpins. It also has the last known bed of Native Pacific Oysters in North America which is located at the mouth of the river. There are many parks located within the Nicomekl River Watersheds: Including High Knoll, Brookswood, Hunter, Langley City, Portage, and Dogwood.

To become eligible as an Officer (4 positions) or Director on the NES Board of Directors (12 positions) a member must serve at least 1 year.

A Regular Membership in NES entitles the person membership in BC Wildlife Federation (BCWF) and includes excellent insurance coverage not available otherwise.

Members are encouraged to attend and participate in our many functions as best they can. It's recognized volunteers have jobs and personal commitments and those must come first. For this reason, week-ends and evenings are scheduled for most or our projects and special events.

Volunteering

The Nicomekl Enhancement Society strives to lessen many of the problems facing Nicomekl River by encouraging local residents to care for different sections of the river. Stewardship can be as simple as reporting anything of concern to the proper authority.
